Delivering to Canford Cliffs

We deliver to Canford Cliffs (BH13/BH14) by refrigerated vehicle, Tuesday to Saturday. Free delivery, £40 minimum order.

Canford Cliffs is one of Poole's most sought-after neighbourhoods: leafy avenues, stunning coastal views, and a village centre with a reputation for quality independent shops. Our counter in Parkstone is practically around the corner, making Canford Cliffs one of our fastest delivery areas.

Serving the streets around Canford Cliffs Beach, Branksome Chine, Canford Cliffs Village Centre, Compton Acres.

Fresh Off the Boat

Day-boat and locally landed wherever the catch allows, sourced each morning and never frozen-then-thawed. The same fish that fills our Parkstone counter goes into every Canford Cliffs order.

Prepared to Order, Your Way

Filleted, descaled, pin-boned, skinned or portioned exactly how you ask, by hand, by people who do it all day. Tell us how you're cooking it and we'll prepare it to match.

Chilled to Your Door

Delivered across Canford Cliffs in our own refrigerated van, not by a courier or the post. Free on orders over £40, Tuesday to Saturday, arriving as fresh as the counter.

From Our Counter

The Catch, Up Close

The Haven Road Habit

There is a particular rhythm to shopping in Canford Cliffs. You park near the parade, pick up a coffee, choose your bread from the bakery, see what the deli has brought in this week. Each thing on its own counter, chosen by someone who knows it. We think fish belongs in exactly that company. A fishmonger is meant to be one stop on a short, considered round, chosen properly, like the bread and the coffee.

Our counter is a short drive up the road, situated on Bournemouth Road in Ashley Cross. We have been there, and the family before us has been there, for more than a hundred years. Plenty of village residents make the trip in person, browse what is laid out on the ice, and ask the question that matters most: what came in this morning, and what should I cook tonight? You will get a straight answer. If you would rather we came to you, the online shop and our own refrigerated van cover the whole of BH13.

Built for People Who Actually Cook

Canford Cliffs is full of confident cooks. People who own the good knives, read the recipe once and then improvise, and care more about where a fish was landed than what it costs. That is the kind of customer a proper fishmonger is built for.

It changes what we do behind the counter. Every fillet is cut for you, off a whole fish, the way you ask, on the day. Want your bream or bass scaled and pin-boned but left on the bone for the oven? Done. A side of salmon trimmed for a wellington? Done. We will tell you honestly when something is at its best and when it is worth waiting a week. Source matters to us too: day-boat and locally landed wherever the catch allows, so the fish on your plate has a real provenance behind it, not a country-of-origin sticker.

If you want to plan a few meals ahead, the seasonal calendar lays out what is at its peak month by month, and the blog is where we put the practical things: how to judge a fish at the counter, how to fillet one cleanly, what to do with the cuts most people throw away.

Entertaining, the Easy Way

The village does a lot of entertaining. Drinks that turn into supper, Saturday lunches that run into the evening, the kind of small gathering where the food is supposed to look effortless and never quite is. This is where having a fishmonger close by earns its keep.

For a table of friends, our seafood platters do the heavy lifting: dressed crab, prawns in the shell, a few oysters, all arranged and ready to set down. Platters need a couple of days’ notice so we can build them properly, so a quick call to Steve on 01202 747661 is the way to lock one in. For something more hands-on, a pile of shell-on prawns with aioli, a bowl of mussels or clams to steam open at the last minute, or a board of our own smoked salmon and pâté make a starter that looks after itself.

That smoked salmon is worth a word. We smoke it ourselves, in-house, and we make our pâté on the premises. It is not bought in from a wholesaler and re-labelled. It is one of the things that brings village customers back, and one of the easiest ways to start a meal without setting foot near the hob.

Branksome Park, Compton Acres, and the Chines

Behind the parade, the avenues of Branksome Park run down through the pines toward the coast. These are big houses with kitchens to match, and a fair few of them keep a standing weekly order with us that shifts through the year: lighter things and barbecue fish through summer, then Dover sole, turbot, and smoked fish as the weather turns. We slot into the routine quietly. You tell us roughly what the week looks like; we have it ready.

The same goes for the stretch around Compton Acres and down toward Flaghead. A weekend walk through the chines to Canford Cliffs beach or along to Branksome Chine works up the kind of appetite that wants something good waiting at home. Order it before you set out and it can be in the fridge by the time you are back up the hill. A handful of village residents also keep boats down at the harbour, and for them we run a separate yacht provisioning service that delivers straight to the berth.

How to Order from the Village

Three ways, whichever suits the day.

Walk in. We are five minutes up the road and open Tuesday to Friday, 7:30am to 4pm, and Saturday until 3pm. We are closed Sunday and Monday. Collection from the counter is free with no minimum, so it is worth a visit even for a single fillet for two.

Order online for delivery. Build your basket from the shop and pick a slot. We deliver across Canford Cliffs and the rest of BH13 by refrigerated van, Tuesday to Saturday, with free delivery on orders of £40 or more. Order by 3pm and we can usually have it with you the next delivery day. It is our own vehicle and our own driver, not a courier and not a parcel network, so your fish arrives cold and handled properly.

Or just call. For platters, large orders, or anything you want to talk through, ring Steve on 01202 747661. A century in, we still think the best fish order starts with a conversation. Take a look at the recipes if you need a steer on what to do with it once it is home.

I am a Private Chef and I love going into Parkstone Fisheries! The fish is of outstanding quality, mostly local and dayboat caught. The knowledge the whole team have is second to none. And if you want the bones for stock...probably best not get one that Jason has filleted as it will JUST be bones. Looking forward to going in there for many years to come!

★★★★★
We were so impressed with our first visit to Parkstone Fisheries. We received a very friendly welcome and advice on the fish they supply. We look forward to cooking the plaice tonight and the smoked haddock tomorrow. We're very pleased to know they smoke the fish themselves. We'll definitely visit again. It's sad that so many fishmongers have closed but we're grateful to have such a high quality shop near where we live.
