Fresh Fish Delivered to Wimborne

Poole's trusted fishmonger delivering fresh fish, shellfish, and seafood to Wimborne by refrigerated vehicle

Delivering to Wimborne

We deliver to all Wimborne postcodes (BH21) by refrigerated vehicle, Tuesday to Saturday. Free delivery, £40 minimum order.

Wimborne Minster is a charming market town with a proud tradition of supporting independent businesses. The town's weekly market and thriving high street make it a natural fit for a traditional fishmonger, and while we're based in Poole, our delivery service brings the counter experience straight to Wimborne's door.

Serving the streets around Wimborne Minster, Wimborne Model Town, Kingston Lacy, Canford School.

Fresh Off the Boat

Day-boat and locally landed wherever the catch allows, sourced each morning and never frozen-then-thawed. The same fish that fills our Parkstone counter goes into every Wimborne order.

Prepared to Order, Your Way

Filleted, descaled, pin-boned, skinned or portioned exactly how you ask, by hand, by people who do it all day. Tell us how you're cooking it and we'll prepare it to match.

Chilled to Your Door

Delivered across Wimborne in our own refrigerated van, not by a courier or the post. Free on orders over £40, Tuesday to Saturday, arriving as fresh as the counter.

From Our Counter

The Catch, Up Close

The Minster Town Used to Have Its Own Provisions Row

Stand in the Square on a Friday and you can still read the shape of an old market town in the shopfronts. Wimborne grew up around its Minster and its market, and for generations that meant a proper run of provisions shops: a butcher, a baker, a grocer, and very often a wet-fish counter to go with them. Some of those trades are still here. The fishmonger, for most towns this size, quietly disappeared.

That is the gap we fill. We have been a working fish counter in Parkstone since the 1920s, and a little over a hundred years on we are still cutting fish to order every morning. Wimborne sits about eight miles south of us, fifteen minutes down the road, and our refrigerated van runs out that way through the week. You get the counter you remember without the drive to Poole to reach it.

How the coast reaches you inland

The whole point of an inland delivery is that nothing about the fish changes on the way. We pack your order in our own refrigerated vehicle, not a courier van and not an overnight parcel network, and it travels chilled from our cold room to your door. The cod you order on a Wednesday is filleted that morning and with you the same week, in the same condition it would be in if you had carried it back from the Square yourself.

Delivery runs Tuesday to Saturday across every BH21 address. Order by 3pm and we will get your fish out on the next available day. Delivery is free over a £40 order, which for most households is a Sunday joint of fish and a few bits for the week. If you would rather come and choose in person, the counter is open Tuesday to Friday, 7:30am to 4pm, and Saturday until 3pm. Collection is free with no minimum, so it is worth the run down on a market morning.

Cooking for a Settled Town

Wimborne is not a town of grab-and-go dinners. It is older households, long-standing families out in Colehill and Pamphill, people who still lay a table properly and have friends round. That shows in what gets ordered. We see a lot of whole fish for roasting, a lot of fresh fish bought with a Sunday lunch in mind, and a steady run of shellfish for the kind of cook who is happy to spend an afternoon over a pot.

The advantage of a real fishmonger is that the fish arrives ready for the pan. Steve and the team will fillet, skin, pin-bone, butterfly or portion anything you order. If you want a side of salmon trimmed and cut into six even pieces for a dinner party, say so on the order and that is how it turns up. If you want a brace of bream scaled and gutted for the oven, the same. None of that happens at a chilled cabinet.

A starter, a centre, and something for the weekend

For people new to cooking fish, a fish pie is an easy first step, and our classic fish pie walks you through it. Our fish pie mix (diced salmon, white fish and smoked haddock that drops straight into a sauce and feeds a full table) is made up at the counter rather than sold online, so ask for it in the shop or call 01202 747661. From there, the whole mackerel is the cheapest proper treat we sell, and the baked salmon with lemon and herbs is the dish that turns a quiet Sunday into something worth sitting down for. For an entertaining centrepiece, the monkfish wrapped in Parma ham earns its place.

What We Smoke and Make Ourselves

Plenty of what we sell you will not find on a shelf anywhere, because we make it on site. We smoke our own salmon in-house and turn out our own pâté behind the counter, and that is where a lot of Wimborne orders end up once people have tried it. The smoked salmon is cured and smoked on site, and the wider smoked fish range of peppered mackerel, smoked haddock, and our smoked salmon pâté is the answer to a lunch that needs no cooking at all.

It suits the way the town entertains. A seafood platter lands well at a dinner party, the deli range fills out a grazing table, and there is no shame in keeping a few coated portions or something from the frozen range in for the evenings when nobody wants to think too hard about supper.

Tivoli Nights, Market Mornings, and the Allen

There is a rhythm to Wimborne that fits cooking from scratch. A show at the Tivoli, a slow wander round the Model Town, the river paths where the Allen meets the Stour, the stalls out on market day. These are not rushed afternoons, and the meal at the end of them is rarely a rushed one either. Buying fish from someone who can tell you what landed well that week is part of doing it properly. Much of what we carry is day-boat or locally landed where the weather and the season allow, and we will always tell you straight what is at its best. The seasonal calendar lays out the year, and the blog is where we put the longer how-tos.

Colehill, Pamphill, Corfe Mullen and the Rest of BH21

The delivery area is the whole postcode, not just the town centre: out to Colehill and Merley, across to Canford Magna and Leigh, and along the lanes through Pamphill towards Corfe Mullen. If your nearest church bell is the Minster’s, you are on the round. Households on the western edge near Corfe Mullen may find our Broadstone page is the closer reference for the same van. Have a look through the full shop, or call the counter on 01202 747661 and we will sort it out over the phone.

I am a Private Chef and I love going into Parkstone Fisheries! The fish is of outstanding quality, mostly local and dayboat caught. The knowledge the whole team have is second to none. And if you want the bones for stock...probably best not get one that Jason has filleted as it will JUST be bones. Looking forward to going in there for many years to come!

★★★★★
We were so impressed with our first visit to Parkstone Fisheries. We received a very friendly welcome and advice on the fish they supply. We look forward to cooking the plaice tonight and the smoked haddock tomorrow. We're very pleased to know they smoke the fish themselves. We'll definitely visit again. It's sad that so many fishmongers have closed but we're grateful to have such a high quality shop near where we live.
