Your Fishmonger in Bournemouth

Fresh fish, shellfish, and seafood delivered to your door in Bournemouth by refrigerated vehicle

Delivering to Bournemouth

We deliver to all Bournemouth postcodes (BH1-BH11) by refrigerated vehicle, Tuesday to Saturday. Free delivery, £40 minimum order.

Bournemouth is the largest town in the BH postcode area, and despite its 187,000+ population, there is no dedicated fishmonger serving the town. Parkstone Fisheries fills that gap, delivering the same counter-fresh quality that Poole residents have enjoyed for over a century.

Serving the streets around Bournemouth Beach, Bournemouth Pier, Russell-Cotes Museum, Bournemouth Gardens, Boscombe Pier.

Fresh Off the Boat

Day-boat and locally landed wherever the catch allows, sourced each morning and never frozen-then-thawed. The same fish that fills our Parkstone counter goes into every Bournemouth order.

Prepared to Order, Your Way

Filleted, descaled, pin-boned, skinned or portioned exactly how you ask, by hand, by people who do it all day. Tell us how you're cooking it and we'll prepare it to match.

Chilled to Your Door

Delivered across Bournemouth in our own refrigerated van, not by a courier or the post. Free on orders over £40, Tuesday to Saturday, arriving as fresh as the counter.

From Our Counter

The Catch, Up Close

187,000 People, No Fishmonger

If you’ve been searching for a fish shop in Bournemouth or a fishmonger near me, you already know the problem. The town has a seven-mile beach, a thriving restaurant scene, and nearly 200,000 residents who know good food when they taste it. What it doesn’t have is a dedicated fishmonger on the high street. A few have come and gone over the years, but none has lasted. What the town has not had is a counter with a fishmonger stood behind it, which is the part we can do something about.

We’re 15 minutes west along the A35, and we deliver to every postcode in Bournemouth, BH1 through BH11. That reaches the town centre, Boscombe, Southbourne, Winton, Charminster, Moordown, Kinson, and the addresses tucked between them. A bigger town than Poole, and one we cover end to end on the same refrigerated round.

What a Fishmonger’s Counter Does

Here is the honest difference, and it has nothing to do with marketing. We cut to order on the morning your van goes out. Steve or one of the team takes a whole fish, trims it, pin-bones it, and bags it exactly the way you asked: a piece cut for your dish, on your delivery day, by the person who chose the fish at market.

We also make a good deal of it ourselves. We smoke our own salmon on the premises over locally sourced wood chippings, and we make our pâté by hand in the same building. When a fish has been landed by a Dorset day-boat rather than flown in frozen, we’ll tell you, because we’d rather sell you the better fish. You taste all of that. It’s the line between a fillet that flakes cleanly under a fork and one that’s gone dry before the salt has landed. Start with the fresh fish counter or the whole shop, and tell us how you want it cut.

How Bournemouth Eats Fish

Two hundred thousand people don’t cook the same way, and the orders coming out of Bournemouth prove it. Here is roughly how the town breaks down.

Seafront Flats and Town-Centre Professionals

The apartments along the cliffs, around the Gardens, and behind the pier tend to belong to people who eat well and cook for two. Smaller kitchens, less time, higher standards. A side of our home-smoked salmon with bread and lemon does most of the work for a Friday evening. A few shell-on prawns and a glass of something cold does the rest. No production, just good raw materials handled properly.

Family Homes in Winton, Charminster and Southbourne

The terraces and semis of Winton, Charminster, Moordown and Southbourne are where the weekly fish shop lives. Bigger appetites, fussier children, a budget that has to stretch across the week. Our fish pie mix is salmon, cod and smoked haddock diced ready for your sauce, and it goes a long way at a family table. We make it up at the counter rather than selling it online, so ask for it in the shop or call 01202 747661. The coated portions keep the children happy. A cod fillet, skin-on and pin-boned, turns Friday into proper fish and chips, and the queue at the chip shop on Wimborne Road never gets a look in.

Student and Shared Houses Near the University

Bournemouth’s student population clusters across BH1, BH5 and BH7, much of it within walking distance of the campuses at Talbot and Lansdowne. Cooking for a shared house on a budget goes further than people expect. Pool an order to clear the £40 minimum, split it between housemates, and you’ll eat far better for the money. The frozen range keeps in the freezer between shops, and the coated portions cook from cold in twenty minutes.

Entertaining in Westbourne and the Leafy Suburbs

Westbourne, Talbot Woods and Queen’s Park are where people host. A built seafood platter, with dressed crab, smoked salmon, shell-on prawns and seasonal extras assembled the morning it goes out, turns a kitchen table into the main event. Give us 48 hours for platters and we’ll have it ready. For something more hands-off, a whole side of fish from the smoked range or a tub of pâté from the deli sits happily on a grazing board while you pour the wine and talk to your guests.

Delivery That Treats the Fish Right

Not everyone can drive to Parkstone, and that’s the whole point of the van. We run our own refrigerated vehicle across Bournemouth Tuesday to Saturday: it isn’t a courier, it isn’t Royal Mail, and your fish stays cold from our counter to your doorstep. Order by 3pm and we’ll have it with you the next working day.

Delivery across BH1-BH11 is free once you reach the £40 minimum. If you’d rather choose in person, collection from the counter at 12 Bournemouth Road is free with no minimum at all: we’re open Tuesday to Friday, 7:30am to 4pm, and Saturday until 3pm, closed Sunday and Monday. Either way, you can ask for exactly the cut you want: thick loins, thin portions, skin on or off, a whole side sliced to order. Call 01202 747661 if you’d rather talk it through.

A Hundred Years Down the Road

We’ve sold fish from Bournemouth Road since the 1920s, which means we were here long before most of Bournemouth’s restaurants opened, and several of them buy from us now. If you’ve eaten good fish in this town, there’s a fair chance it came across our counter first. We bring the same supply chain to a home kitchen, with no middleman and no week-long wait in a warehouse. Check what’s in season before you order, browse the recipes for something to cook tonight, or read the blog for how to pick and prepare fish like the people behind the counter do.

I am a Private Chef and I love going into Parkstone Fisheries! The fish is of outstanding quality, mostly local and dayboat caught. The knowledge the whole team have is second to none. And if you want the bones for stock...probably best not get one that Jason has filleted as it will JUST be bones. Looking forward to going in there for many years to come!

★★★★★
We were so impressed with our first visit to Parkstone Fisheries. We received a very friendly welcome and advice on the fish they supply. We look forward to cooking the plaice tonight and the smoked haddock tomorrow. We're very pleased to know they smoke the fish themselves. We'll definitely visit again. It's sad that so many fishmongers have closed but we're grateful to have such a high quality shop near where we live.
