Delivering to New Milton

We deliver to all New Milton postcodes (BH25) by refrigerated vehicle, Tuesday to Saturday. Free delivery, £40 minimum order.

New Milton sits between the New Forest and the coast at Barton-on-Sea, a town of 25,000 that straddles the Hampshire-Dorset border. As part of the BH postcode area, New Milton is within our delivery range, bringing Parkstone Fisheries' century of expertise to this corner of the south coast.

Serving the streets around Barton-on-Sea Cliffs, New Forest National Park, Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum.

Fresh Off the Boat

Day-boat and locally landed wherever the catch allows, sourced each morning and never frozen-then-thawed. The same fish that fills our Parkstone counter goes into every New Milton order.

Prepared to Order, Your Way

Filleted, descaled, pin-boned, skinned or portioned exactly how you ask, by hand, by people who do it all day. Tell us how you're cooking it and we'll prepare it to match.

Chilled to Your Door

Delivered across New Milton in our own refrigerated van, not by a courier or the post. Free on orders over £40, Tuesday to Saturday, arriving as fresh as the counter.

From Our Counter

The Catch, Up Close

A Hampshire Town the Dorset Van Already Reaches

Cross the county line east of Christchurch and the postcodes keep their BH prefix for a few more miles. That quirk of the map is why New Milton sits inside our delivery range. You’re in Hampshire; your post still starts BH25; and our refrigerated van comes this way as part of its eastern run.

It is a town that grew up around its railway. The station on Station Road put New Milton on the map in the 1880s, and the brick water tower that locals still use to give directions has watched over the high street ever since. Half an hour west of here, situated on Bournemouth Road in Ashley Cross, is a fish counter that has been trading since the 1920s. We bring the two together: a hundred years of fishmongering, delivered to a town that hasn’t had a proper one of its own in a long while.

The Walk Down to Barton, and What Comes After

People come to Barton-on-Sea for the cliff path. It runs along the top of the soft, crumbling cliffs that geologists travel to study, with the Isle of Wight and the Needles laid out across the water on a clear day. You walk it for an hour, the wind does its work, and you come home properly hungry.

That is the moment a good fishmonger earns its keep. Not a frozen fillet from the big shop, but something you actually chose. We deliver across the whole of BH25, so the fish can be waiting at home before the kettle’s on. The walkers along the front, the families on the beach below, the second-homers down for the weekend with the Forest behind them and the Solent in front: this stretch of coast eats well, and now it can buy well too.

Our fresh fish case changes with the week and the weather. Where we can land it from a day boat or buy it locally, we do, and we say so. Cooking after a long walk should be simple, so most of what leaves the counter for New Milton is exactly that: a couple of fillets, a hot pan, ten minutes.

Why We Like Cooking for a Coastal Town

New Milton has retired and settled, and it has also filled up with young families and people who keep a place here for the summer. What they share is time spent outdoors and a habit of feeding people. That suits us.

Entertaining without the fuss

A house full of weekend guests doesn’t want a fiddly recipe. It wants something that looks generous and mostly looks after itself. Our platters are built the morning they go out, piled with the kind of thing you’d otherwise spend an afternoon assembling. Set one down with a bottle of something cold and the table does the rest. The shellfish range works the same way for a relaxed lunch: crab, oysters, dressed and ready, no stove required.

The things we make ourselves

Two of the lines New Milton orders most never see a wholesaler. We smoke our own salmon across the road from the counter, and we make our own pâté by hand. They turn up in our smoked salmon and smoked fish ranges, and they’re the easy answer when someone calls in on the off chance. The marinated deli shelf covers the same ground from another angle: dressed, ready, straight onto a plate.

Prep done at our end, not your sink

Tell us how you want it when you order. Scaled, gutted, pin-boned, skinned, filleted, cut into portions, a whole fish ready for the oven. There’s no charge and no fixed list. If it’s a sensible cut, we’ll do it, and you skip the part of cooking fish that nobody enjoys.

Ordering from the Edge of the Forest

New Milton is a longer run for the van than the streets near the shop, so the timing is worth knowing. We deliver Tuesday to Saturday, and the rule is simple: get your order in by 3pm and we’ll bring it on the next available delivery day. Plan tonight, eat tomorrow.

A few things worth knowing if you haven’t ordered before. Delivery is free across BH25 with a £40 minimum, and it travels in our own refrigerated van, not a courier or the post, so it arrives as cold as it left the counter. We’re closed Sunday and Monday; counter hours are Tuesday to Friday 7:30am-4pm and Saturday 7:30am-3pm. And if you’re driving into Poole anyway, for a hospital appointment or a day at the shops, collection from the counter is free with no minimum, so you can pick up a single fillet on the way through. Steve’s on 01202 747661 if you want to ask what’s eating well before you order.

If you’re closer to Lymington or Milford-on-Sea, you may sit just over the SO41 line, in which case a quick call sorts out which delivery day suits your address. The same goes if you’re up towards Hordle on the Forest edge.

Down This Stretch of Coast

BH25 takes in New Milton town, Barton-on-Sea, Ashley, Bashley and the lanes running out towards Hordle, and we cover all of it. Neighbouring Christchurch sits on the same eastern run, and Lymington is on our schedule too, so we reach most of this corner between the Forest and the sea. Have a look at what’s in season for ideas, read the buying and cooking notes on the blog, find a method on the recipes page, then browse the full shop and put your order in before 3pm.

I am a Private Chef and I love going into Parkstone Fisheries! The fish is of outstanding quality, mostly local and dayboat caught. The knowledge the whole team have is second to none. And if you want the bones for stock...probably best not get one that Jason has filleted as it will JUST be bones. Looking forward to going in there for many years to come!

★★★★★
We were so impressed with our first visit to Parkstone Fisheries. We received a very friendly welcome and advice on the fish they supply. We look forward to cooking the plaice tonight and the smoked haddock tomorrow. We're very pleased to know they smoke the fish themselves. We'll definitely visit again. It's sad that so many fishmongers have closed but we're grateful to have such a high quality shop near where we live.
