About our fresh live mussels
Live rope grown mussels by the kilo, cleaned and de-bearded before they leave us. A kilo is a generous main course for two with crusty bread. Steam them with white wine, garlic and shallots for moules marinière, and stir in some cream at the end if you like. Discard any that stay open after a tap on the counter, and any that stay shut after cooking. The old rule is to eat mussels when there is an R in the month. We have them all year, but there is less meat in summer while they spawn.
